School meals at Wheatfields Junior School are delivered by The Pantry. They are cooked on the premises and offer excellent value for money. School meals must be paid for in advance. At the start of each half-term parents/carers will receive an invoice for that half-term’s meals. This must be paid promptly. If you prefer to pay weekly for meals then please speak to the school office team. Two weeks' notice is required to change from school dinner to packed lunch.
School meals offer a healthy balance within a three week menu. There is always a vegetarian option as well as a range of salad items and fresh vegetables. Pupils choose what they would like to eat from the day’s menu at registration time. They are then guaranteed to receive this option at lunch time. The Pantry's website provides more information about school meals and menu choices.
Some children prefer a packed lunch from home. Parents are asked to ensure that packed lunches support a balanced diet and that sweets are not included. Packed lunches should be in a clearly named container.
All children are encouraged to eat a snack at morning break. If snacks are brought in from home then these should be a healthy snack - crisps, chocolate bars or sweets are not permitted.
